WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

Relationship

In general, studies have shown that the fit between the client and therapist  can be just as important as the type of talk therapy.  This means, it is important to find a therapist with whom you feel you can be open.  Talking about your thoughts and fears is not always easy, and it helps if you find someone you feel comfortable with and can trust.

Insurance

I believe it is important the client and therapist make decisions together about what, when, and how much therapy they feel is appropriate.  I am not on any insurance panels, so that decisions about treatment can be made privately between my client and myself.  That said, many insurance companies offer out-of-network coverage for individual, couples or family psychotherapy.  I can provide you with a receipt for payment that you may submit for reimbursement.  When necessary, I am sometimes able to see a patient at a reduced fee.

How long does it take?

This is a complex question, and one that we can figure out together.  Some people find that they are able to resolve what is bothering them after a relatively short time in treatment.  Others find that the support and insight they gain through longer-term treatments help them function more effectively in many areas of their life.
